hi, i am not sure why but my aquarium water has changed to a yellow? i even did a water change and no use?
my stats are fine. my fish are fine but the water is yellow.

i feed my fish algea wafers, hikari cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworms, and some treats evry now and then.

any help????

thanks!

could be a couple of things.

1st do u have bog wood or any other woods in the tank?

This would be about 80% chance of being the problem.
I have seen overfeeding with Hikari Cichlid Gold food turn the water an orange red colour!!! is that possible?
And lastly with no water changes, urine can build up in the water and turn it yellow over time.

yes i do have wood in my tank, it isnt new it has been in since the tank has been set up. i only feed hikari gold cichlid food as much as they will eat and remove the rest, i dont remove the bloodworms, they search for it later and love it.

i do regular water changes so it isnt urine.

So i would say it's just tannins from the wood.
Nothing to worry about.

if you check your ph if its very low its the tanins in the wood.
you will have to just do water changes and eventually it will become clear again

This might only ever happen in a tank with very low carbonate hardness (KH). The KH acts as a water chemistry buffer. Without a reasonable KH, some tannins can decrease the pH somewhat.
Though I have never known of anyone having trouble with this.
