hello
i would really like yellow labs n blue dolphin cichlids but would they get on ok? not too clued up on either fish to be honest. keeping peacocks.at the mo with some other fish that i ain't gotta clue what they are n i can't upload pics here so can't even get someone to id the fish. :-( loadsa help needed.

have you tried creating a photobucket account for the pictures?

blue dolphins need a minimum of a 5ft tank (at least 125 gallons)
+1 :good:

The dolphins (Cyrtocara moorii) are haplochromis cichlids and will get quite large 8-10". They like to swim about so the large tank is a must. A 72" long tank would be even better.
They do grow rather slow compared to most Cichlids but best to have the proper size tank up front rather than good intentions of getting one.
The only problem I would see in keeping them with Yellow labs apart from making sure the tank is big enough would be diet.
The labs are mostly herbivore and the Dolphins are carnivore.
This is easily solved by using a good balanced food such as NLS.

I should add both are diggers / sand sifters, but the Dolphin especially, It would serve well to use sand substrate for sure.

the tank i was going to put them in is 42x 15x 18x so nowhere near big enough. i am getting a larger tank but i don't think id keep them together now as 8-10 inch fish i think would look silly next to labs. i just thought their colours would go really well and i like both of those fish. no well i thought about it but to put the pics up id then need to learn bb code too.

if you really want the blue/yellow combo you could probably do a quad of labs and then one of the blue dwarf mbuna, or just a full tank of saulosi, the males are blue with bars and the females are completely yellow.
