You are best rehoming it as it is not suitable for your tank.
Yellow Labs are Malawi Cichlids and should not be housed with community fish.

They shouldn't have sold you it, so it might be worth popping in and asking them to rehome it for you.

when i asked them to take back a shark they sold me they said some crap about returns and how they wont do it with live stock i might be able to get my dads mate to rehome if need be

why are they not community fish?

they both seemed really at home

they will grow very aggressive and as they mature they will kill all your other fish or bully them to death, and they will get to big and active for your tank

They come from Lake Malawi in Africa and prefer a PH of around 8.
Malawi Cichlids are very aggressive, more so when they mature and will end up attacking your other fish.

Cichlids in general prefer to be in a cichlid only tank do to their water stats and aggressiveness.

Not all Cichlids prefer to be in a Cichlid only tank.
Smaller types like Apistogrammas, Bolivian Rams, Czech Rams and Keyhole Cichlids mix well with most small community fish like Tetras, Rasboras etc.
Bigger types like Firemouth, Ellioti, Jade Eye etc. can be mixd with bigger Tetras, Barbs and Rainbows provided the tank is big enough.

ok cheer ill have to see whats about :good:

if i cant get rid of the lab tho im going to have to keep it at least until i see it causing and real problems or gets too big

Hopefully, you will be able to rehome him sooner rather than later before he causes problems.
Whilst he's in there, you will not be able to add any other fish.

not always the case as GBR's or czech rams(same species dif name), need to be kept at temps of 28oC to prevent their metabolism slowing down, and them getting diseases and dieing prematurely, so tetras (most of whom prefer cooler temperatures) will not be suited to GBR's

I know many people who keep Rams at 25-26C with no problems. A lot of people also keep Tetras at a similar temperature with no problems.
I was also pointing out that many Cichlids are fine in a community tank. ;)
