Hoover AL,
A couple of weeks ago i bought a new yellow lab. She was pretty small (about 1"). She got bullied in my main tank and got most of her tail nipped off, so i moved her into a 20 gallon until she grew her tail back. My question is how big should she be until i move her back? the rest of the fish are about 2-3". All help is accepted :good:

It is often recommended that a Mbuna tank be overstocked. If this is the 55gal in your signature, it is really understocked. These cichlids do better if they are all added at once, as they can make life hell, for an individual newcomer. If it were me, I'd remove the present fish into a bucket, rearrange the tank rocks( you need LOTS of rock work) and add several new additions at the same time as the present fish....Silk plants to break the line of sight helps as well...

Yea, she was to small to be added by herself. I'd say let her heal and grow a little bit, then buy some more fish and add them at the same time (if you don't quarantine). If you QT then wait for the QT period to be over before adding. When adding new stock to the tank, it's a good idea for the new fish to be of similar size.

If this is the 55gal in your signature, it is really understocked.
IMO, it's not that understocked. I'd say 16 fish at the max. I believe cowbla has 10 or 12...singatures dont' show up in the reply screen.
