So this is a new color of shrimp for me, and sadly, I was switch and baited by the seller I bought them from. Thought he was breeding himself and turns out he had them dropped shipped to me from SF Aquatic in CA. The quality is not very good. One shrimp in the pack of 20 is nearly clear, most of the others are only mildly yellow, only about half have the expected bright yellow and gold back coloring that is expected. While I know males are not generally as colorful as females, this is not the problem. I also know from what I have read that the yellow backs can get freckles on them when ready to breed or when close to spawning their eggs. Now all that said, I am still nervous about the one shrimp in the batch that has these brown freckles. Of course worried it is some nasty disease. This picture is really poor, sorry about that, having a hard time focusing on such a little shrimp. The larger spot you see near the middle is replicated on both sides, which has me leaning towards this being either breeding coloration, or this is just a really poor quality shrimp that has brown color on it from cross breeding or some such. The shrimp is not acting sick and is in fact eating ravenously. In this picture it was enjoying picking biofilm off of the snails shell. Looking for opinions here from others that have kept this color.
