yes ... I have a yellow clown goby and he is having a hard time eating. He tastes food sometimes. I will post a photo soon -- I'm very worried that he has contracted some form of parasite. I noticed that there was one little protrusion when I got him home ... but now there appear to be many such protrusions.

I feel helpless without a small tank to quarantine him. (I have an emerald crab and one mushroom coral as well).

ok ... those protusions are normal .... yellow clown gobies have several of them ....

he does not appear to have any disease .... he is just plain frightened and hides when I walk into a room .... He often will taste food and then spit in out.

I am increasing my salinity as it was low. (1.020) .... the place where I bought him thinks that he may begin eating as I increase the salinity ( to 1.026)

Has anyone else had experience with yellow clown gobies or green gumdrop gobies?

What have you tried feeding him -to initiate a feeding response try putting in some enriched brine shrimp, few fish can resist them

He just would not eat anything. I feel that there must have been some contaminant in the tank. I was not running the filter with carbon -- partly out of concern that it may remove trace elements. I now feel that I must run with carbon filtration -- maybe forever -- , the reason being that there is no way to test for every single contaminant that could get into the water.

All of the pumps are made of plastic, plus I have a foam filter. I feel that a VOC (volatile organic compound) got into my tank some way or another.

I also bought a 5 gallon quarantine tank -- used -- because I don't want to lose anymore fish.

no one on earth will understand how many times i have bought yellow gobies and have them die.. Eating problems, parasites, u name it.. I have never had success with these bean gobies... Tried garlic juice and all kinds of food items: krill, brine shrimp, mysis, squid, clam, etc... This is just my experience, good luck with yours :good:

Yes Seffie .... he's gone ....

I'm just sick over losing my yellow clown goby .... I'm not going to try to keep one for a while. I just bought a juvenile clown fish ... just about 1 1/2 inch long. I hope he will be ok. I'm the closest I've ever been to giving up on having fish.

I did raise my salinity to 1.026 ....

My best guess for trying to keep a clown goby is that I'd need run the filter with fresh carbon and somehow have live copepods in the quarantine tank before I buy one. And I'd keep him there at least two months before adding him to the other tank.

This is unfortunately a common problem among clown gobies. But there ARE some that do fine on frozen. request your LFS to feed them before buying and observe them. I had a green clown a bit back, he had been at the lfs for nearly two years  I kept him another two years until he died.

well. I'm just not ready for the trauma .... or drama ..... the poor little guy did eat this pellet food at the LFS just before I took him home (one thing I could have done was go back and buy that same food) .... he would not my Hikari pellets, mysis shrimp or cyclopeze.

Many places do not carry clown gobies because they are so delicate.
