Hi

I currently have a 60 litre tank with 2 sunset platys, 8 x neon tetra's and 1 x male guppy.

Upon feeding them last night, I noticed 2 x tiny bright yellow baby fish hiding in the plant. They have see through bodies, and bright yellow heads, and are 1mm in length.

There has been no visible eggs in the tank.

Are these neon tetra babies??

Thanks

L

nope, platy babies. platys give birth to live fry hence why you would have seen no eggs :)

Yeah your platties have been having fun in your tank. You may want to put the fry in a breeding net to stop them getting eaten by the other fish. Neons are very effective predators of fry.

Thanks for the update!! :good:

I'll pop out to buy a breeding net at lunchtime to protect the little mites!!

Glad my platys are settled in and happy!!

congratulations :flowers: you may also want to get some liquifry no2, then in a few weeks move them on to high protien crushed flakes :)

Even better try and culture some baby brine shrimp for them. They'll come on leaps and bounds with live food!

I agree.

Had some sunset platies and they bred aswell got 8 small fry and they are growing!!!!

Once they are about 8 - 10mm try them on tablet food.

both my guppy and platy fry love 'em!!!!
