It stormed like crazy :S and the power went out at about 4am, another tree tried to kill our fence, and then the power came back on at 7:09am. I'm not too worried about the tanks mini cycling, but I was planing on adding one of my rubber eels to my 55gal tank today. In the 55gal there are 3 boeseami rainbows, 4 rummy nosed tetras, and one german blue ram. The rubber eel is about a foot long. Now I am wondering if I should hold off for another week or if it is still OK to add him to the tank?

Thanks,

I wouldn't put a rubber eel in a tank with rummy noses, as they'll probably be eaten.

According to what I have looked up online the rubber eel should be ok with the rummy nosed tetras, many people even keep them with cardinal tetras. The one I am hoping to add to the 55gal first is readily eating earthworm. So, I don't think it will bother with trying to eat the rummy noses and they also have poor eye sight. If it does happen to eat one I will move the rummies to a different tank.

I am mainly wondering if the filter can handle the increased bioload after being turn off for 3 hours last night.

Thanks,

your bacteria in your filter starts to die after a half hour so a great majority if not all died on you. i would hold off and check water sats and do waterchanges to make sure its not going to go through a mini cycle.

Weird. I've read that that they'd eat anything smaller than 4" :S :/

I thought I took more than four hours before the bacteria starts to die?
