As some you heard me metoin in a fourm early this month. I started a what i thought baby chiclid tank and then was going to move them into a bigger tank when they needed it. Most fish are under 1 inch, however there were 2 that were around 1.5 inchs. Coming back from my trip . I have found over 35 baby jewel chiclids in my tank. The parents and the fry take up one half of the tank, while the other fish are forced into the other side of the tank. O by the way it is a 30 gallon long. Anyways i have no other tank or the money to buy a smaller one at this moment. And i think that if i wait any longer then the parents will pick on the other fish until they die. I dont know what to do. I have one of those fry containers that sits at the top of the tank, or i was tihnking about going and getting a divider and split the tank up more fairly.

Help would be greatly appreicted :dunno: javascript:emoticon(':dunno:')

Hi, jewels will breed all the time and will cause a problem if allowed to. The best thing to do would be to get rid of the babies and have only 1 jewel. I know you may be attached to them but its what I would do if I had to :/

You pretty much need to decide whether you want a breeding pair of Jewels or a tank of single specimens so there is no breeding going on - a pair fills a 30 gallon tank. Installing a divider is a good temporary solution, but then all the fish have less space then they should.
