 OMG my molly has just had babies  , only seen 2 up to now but sure theres more coming have managed to get 1 in a net, now do i just leave them to hopefully survive or do i run out & get something for them to live in till they bigger.
the net i got the baby in is not a breeder net just normal fish net.
not sure wot 2 do for the best now

If you want to keep them get a breeder net. A few could survive in the tank if you have a lot of hiding places but a net is your best bet.

I agree with Paul, get a breeder net. You can grow them up some in there, and then once they are big enough, release them back into the tank. Remember they need to fed often too...preferably at least 3 times per day. :)

And congrats! :D

yeah managed to save 11  up to now, got a floating fish hatchery & now got mum in there as well. i have got another tank that is already cycled but its got guppies in at the moment, was thinking of puttin guppies in my big tank n using smaller tank as a nursery but wasn't sure about keeping it cycled with only babies in there.

I have a false flying fox as a caretaker in my growout tank and as far as I can tell he has not bothered any fry, except at feeding times he gets a bit mean and chases them off, but I have never seen him do any actual harm.

Good idea, I have a school of neons in mine, I am scared to put the babies in until they are a little bigger tho - cause the neons can be nippy but they are top dwellers, so I bet the fry would be okay. But I am paranoid!

think i will just leave them in their new little home for now, just till they get a bit bigger. scary thing is 1 of the other mollies looks like she bout to have babies soon as well  mite just leave to fend for themselves otherwise we gona get overrun with babies

 Welcome to the wonderful world of livebearers!! :D I had a Swordtail that dumped out over 100 fry every 35 days or so, talk about being overrun!!!

Paul I have to ask. What the heck did you do with all those fry? Or do you just have very well fed cats now?

And trace1, anything small enough to be caught and gulped down WILL be, by tetras, mollies, guppies, coreys, Bettas....you name it, it's a long list. Fry are the crunch n munch of the fish world. I figure only the stupid ones or deformed ones get caught, leaving me with alot of fit smart fish!

:S think i must have had a stupid guppy fry then cos they seem to have all been eaten lol. not that i need anymore babies, wot with the new 9 week old puppy & now molly fry plus house ful of kids ' thinking i must be mad '

I raise my fry to sale size and then make a check with the lfs to see if they need any. I have four stores that are willing to buy them from time to time so I just wait untill one of them needs some. I get ten Swedish Crowns per fish.

Takr mum out as she will eat the ftry. Keep the fry in the breeder net
