It's been years since I've wanted to set up an all girl tank, and last night my boyfriend bought me five new girls for my birthday to go with my old female. I'm so happy. I had the original one in my twenty for a couple weeks with just the driftwood in, so I took her out, added a bunch of plants and then let the little ones out for a while before adding her. She got very upset at first (I still had my male in the little side thing and I had to take him out) and then she's calmed down some.

The only thing I'm worried about is that she's so much bigger than the new ones, I hope she doesn't kill them. If it gets bad I'll rehome her and get another small one. But it's really neat, I love watching them swim around. I even caught my boyfriend watching them, and he's not that into fish.

Just wanted to share!!! :hyper:

+1 pics!

I wouldnt have thought you'd have problems, as you said you took her out, let the new girls settle, then put her back. if you also changed the surroundings a bit that'll help as its no longer "her" territory

You wont need to rehome her, i have 4 girls that are triple the size of my 6 small girls, the age gap between them is 3 months, they get along fine. There is odd fin nipping but nothing major! How many litres does the tank hold? If you can get pics then please do we LOVE pics! :D
p.s Happy birthday!

you lucky thing. i have no room for any more tanks and all spare cash at the mo is going to the wedding.

i think you old girl will settle and will prob be happier with her new mates.

like everyone else has said can we have pics???

:bday:

yes Pics Please:)

The larger one is most likely going to be the more dominent on of the group. just make sure there is a lot of plants, caves etc, for shelter. theyshould be fine. As Jasmine said the odd chase is minor, that will happen to help enforce dominance.

Is it 20G? You could fit possibly 4-5 more if you wanted! :)

I'm thinking about getting some bottom dwellers like dwarf cories or adfs, but haven't decided yet, depending on what I add and the numbers, I may get another two.

I'll see if my friend can lend me a camera, because I've never gotten to show pictures on here before, but all the new girls are crowntails. They're from walmart, but for some reason That Fish Place (biggest pet store in the world and I live near it!) doesn't carry anything but veils, and you have to be lucky to be there the day they get them.

They've been really sizing each other up, and two of the new ones have actually stood their ground at the big girl for a few moments before they decide they're over their heads and buzz off. It's so funny!
