YAY New Aquarium & Fishies!!!

So yesterday (my bday) my boyfriend took me to Pittsburgh to go fish shopping I have come home w/ a new 40g, 2 orange striped cories, 2 khuli loaches, a pair of killies, & 2 pairs of endlers.

Spent most of today setting everything up & my fish don't know what to do in all this space. I have also made the switch from gravel to sand, & except for the cloudy-ness I'm lovin' it. How long should it take for the cloudy-ness to go away?

I got an Aquaclear 70 (300 gph) on it, is that too much? A few of the fish are playing (?) in the current.

Can I get any fish now that I couldnt get w/ my 20 gallon? It was 30" long & this is 36", plus a lot higher. & any ideas for top/middle fish?

What can I feed my algae eating fish? There isn't any algae in there at the moment, but I threw in some sinking wafers.

1 more subject & question, hehe. When I changed from my 10g to my 20g, I just mixed the new & old gravels together & put the old filter sponge in the new one & everything went smoothly. I have put an old sponge in the new filter, but should I also put mesh baggies of the old gravel on the sand? Or will the filter be enough?

You should put as much gravel as you can into socks or nylons (clean lol) as you can never have enough medium to start a new tank with (put one in the back of your filter so the water runs over it and build the bacteria)

Slight bump Can I put an upside down cat, redtail shart, farlowela cat, or a red lizard cat in here?

And the guy at the pet store dropped my hood... He checked it out & it worked fine, but it flickers sometimes & today it's making a horrible buzzing noise. Could this be due to dropping it?

Flickers when you turn it on, or after it's been on for a while?

Also, the buzzing noise is probably coming from the fan, which may have been jostled out of place when he dropped it.

It seems like it flickers when it's been on for a little while, either that or it flickers just a bit & I don't notice it as much. I put my old light strip on the hood, I can't stand the buzzing! I guess I should have just gotten the glass top & put my light strip on it...
