After a month, I finally have some nitrites in my tank!!! :hyper: I've been doing fishless cycling since July 2nd. Last night, the ammonia was down to 2ppm from 4ppm, and I had 1.5 ppm of nitrite! :good:

So, my question is, since it usually takes twice as long for nitrates to appear as it did for nitrites to appear, is it really going to take 2 more months for my tank to cycle? I sure hope not. I've been waiting so long.

But I still haven't decided on fish. Do you think a few scarlet badis's would do okay in a 5 gallon tank?

And could endler's livebearers possibly be listed as guppies at Petsmart? There were some guppies there that looked a lot like endler's. And I asked the lady if they had any endler's livebearers, and she had no idea what I was talking about.

I swear upping the temp in my tank helped me. what temp are you running at?

I don't have a heater yet. My tank is probably in the upper 70s or lower 80s. That's how hot my house is. And the filter makes the water hotter, too. I'll probably have to get a heater once winter comes.
