Just had to share that 10 mins ago I went to do a water change and noticed a bunch of guppy fry swimming all around. :hyper:

I'm going to leave them in the main tank though and see how they go....my tank is heavily planted and I put a bunch of live plants on the surface of the water too so I'm thinking a lot will survive.

I can't really tell how many there are...but there seems to be at least 10-20.

Even though I don't need anymore fish...it was a nice surprise and made me happy :D

I'm going to have to give some to my lfs....I already have 3 one-two month old fry...maybe if they dont color nice I'll give them away.

Well just wanted to share :D

:hooray: very nice Elizabeth.

awww, Thanks guys!!! :*)

I think some might of gotten eaten already. I have this one female swordtail who is always on the prowl for food and she's been swimming like crazy around them trying to catch them.

Last time she was pregnant I put her in the breeding net with a bunch of plants so when the fry were born they would be able to hide but she managed to eat them all anyways!! She's not a good Mommy at all!!!! :grr:

I've got her in the breeding net right now..cause she's heavily pregnant and I figured it's better if shes in there....it'll give the new guys a better chance of surviving!!

:D

better luck with the next batch of fry!

maybe you'll get lucky and mommy guppy will have eaten immeadiately prior to giving birth. perhaps she'll be too full for fry! :p :hyper:

No there's still around 11 or so living...least that's how many I could count at the time...I'm sure theres probably more that were hiding or somewhere else in the tank.

I didn't put mommy guppy in a breeding net this time....she had them inside the main tank. I already have 4 swordtail fry and 3 guppy fry so I figured I'd let nature take it's course and see who survives. I'll actually be really happy if most survive then I know I can just let them have them in the main tank and not worry about catching them up and putting them in the breeding net.

I put meanie mommy swordtail in the breeding net right now though because she was hunting the new fry...also she's heavily pregnant.
