Xiphophorus Xiphidium-spike-tail Platy

I just saw an add for these.How much are they really worth.And are they rare?

Their are 3 main types of Xiphophorus Xiphidium, one spot, two spot and the cresant, these are making's on the rist of the tail, similar to the mickey mouse plays.

Personaly the two spot is the best and at auction u can get them for £4-10 a pair depending on the quality.

In the hobby of rare livebeares their quite common at auctions, but their still a rare fish to get.

P.S. they as far as i know show no sword, the only platy to show swords is Xiphophorus cortezi

xiphophorus kosszanderi. spiketail platy or even known as the crescent xiphidium. is a natural hybrid between x. veriatus and x. xiphidium. males develop a very small sword/spike.

I was thinking of putting them in my nano (5gal) and having ago at breeding them.Do you think i would make a profit?

believe me their is no money to be made or I'll be loaded by now.

To myself and most people it's our hobby and if you sell some thing to cover the foods costs your doing well.
My approach is to keep and breed fish u like and then sell off any extra fish and fry.

Mehh tbh i don't really think they looked like much .Just seeing if i could make a little bit of extra oney for other fish and reptile stuff .O well B)

Well if u want to make money your in the worng hobby!!!

But the two spot is by far the better of these fish if u want to keep them.
