xiphophorus nigrensis is a delicate swordtail it requires good water quality
i keep mine in a large tank with plenty of plants for fry to hide .
if the adults are well fed they leve ther fry alone. i keep them at 68- 72f
do large partial water changes at leest once a week. they are best fed on live foods

I flock breed mine in a small tank (50 litres) with a large surface area. There is a large clump of Java Moss in the middle which takes up most of the tank.
The only other thing I would add to what Gary says is that you need to take care when changing the water, they seem to be susceptible to shocking if the water going in is colder than the water already in the tank and you can see an alarming site of the whole tank 'dying' and floating upside down in the water only to recover later when the temperature picks up.

im new to tropical fish forums and i gotta tell you that your female Xiphophorus Nigrensis is pregnant ok if it has a patch on it then that means that it is pregnant :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
