Hey guys, my Xenia has split now and is about to do it again lol, I'd like to take one of the pieces off the rocks its on (right next to the one it split from ofc) and move it elsewhere! What I wanted to know if how do I go about removing it from the rock? it has a firm hold atm lol :p

Also I've spotted a single stem of pulsing xenia coming out of my LR on other side of tank recently, is this likely to be a hitchhiker thats only grown into eyeshot recently or a frag made from the other  ?

Cheers :D

could be self fragged or come from the live rock.

for fragging the xenia i would just cut it with some sharp scissors or a craft knife, then hold it against the new rock with an elastic band. it'll take hold of the new rock with a few days or so.

Yeah just cut it off the rock using a sharp blade and attach to where you want it. I use superglue to attach xenia, sticks it instantly and I have found elastic bands tend to either be too lose to hold the frags or to tight and damages them (could just be me not getting it right though).

The other bit could be a self fragged bit. I have had bits of xenia that have detached themselves and appeared in other parts of the tank before.

Another way to easier frag xenia (once it really starts growing quickly) is to put bits of rock or shells around them (light atach the rock with a little bit of putty) and wait for them to move onto them.
