How do you know if the xenia is spawning?

Thanks in Advance

Xenia doesnt always spawn by releasing gametes into the water. What it will do more frequently is to grow nodules on the sides of it, lean over, attach those nodules as polyps to the rock next to it, and stand back up. They basically spread like weeds.

ok..

Im seeing smoke leaving the xenia... my lfs reckons its spawning.. im not too sure.. Im sure smoking isn`t a good sign.

All water parameters are spot on. I do have snails in the tank.. so im certain there is no copper in the water also. but i am placing something in the tank to extract any metals that maybe in there. The tank as been established for atleast 3 years +, regal tang is fine, urchins are fine, hermits are fine.. Im stuck.

thanks

"Smoking" is typically a spawning event. Although uncommon, its not unheard of. And ironically spawning events are usually a sign of a healthy tank :good:
