Water conditions check out fine - (5 gals. with 1 Betta, 1 red-wag platy and 2 x-ray tetras).

This is probably no big deal, but my two x-rays only eat in the morning. I feed 2x per day, but the x-rays just ignore the food in the evening. By morning, they are fighting the Betta to get food. They act like I haven't fed them in days. I have read that x-rays will eat up to three times per day.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. All-in-all, the x-rays seem to be doing just fine.

If they are not feeding they are not happy. This is most likely because they are a schooling fish which are used to living in large groups in the wild and you have 2 in a tank that is far too small for them. That tank is really only suitable for a single Betta and nothing else as Bettas are not community fish. At a push a small school of a micro rasbora sp. such as galaxies or 3 Cherry Barbs 1xM 2xF may fit in there. But you are really setting yourself up for problems if you leave things as they are.

:good:

I agree with the above poster, I have x rays tetra's and they get quite big, if they are kept in a small tanks they won't be happy.
Had mine in a 12 gallon then moved them to a 30 gallon what a transformation more active they love it.
