Wyevale Garden Centre, which hosts Clearwater aquatics has announced no live animals to be allowed in it's stores or something like that. The wyevale near me, near tarporley is selling off things cheaply! Anyone else upset by this? Anyone heard any more info about it?

I was really upset to hear this this afternoon!

EDIT:

Turns out that wyevale have no plans to remove ornamental fish from their stores although animal aid are pressing them to do so. Please write to Animal Aid and Wyevale to protest this!

Thats Terrible if it applies Nationwide, as A few people on here work in Maidenhead Aquatics that have stores in Wyevale Garden Centres.
I have Emailed them to find out if it will affect my nearest ones.

Always sad to see a LFS go, I know the owner of my favourite one was talking about how costs have risen.

Let's have a protest!

where have you heard this? does it include aquatic franchises?
I'd be so annoyed if coxwell aquatics by me went, I've only just found and started using the place

Isn't Crowland Maidenhead in a Wyevale??

That got voted one of the best shops in the country, that would be a nightmare!!

I am sure PFK would have mentioned this if it was true nationwide though, going to have a look on the internet now.

you won't believe how i found out

at school, my form tutor is into fishkeeping like me, and we have a small fish tank in our tutor base
at lunch he nipped over to buy some fish for it and sed they were selling off lots of stuff and closing down the fish and pets part and i herd somewhere else about them banning the sale of live animals in their stores

however i think wyevale will still sell all of the fish stuff, tanks etc and the pet area will remain open, but just without any live animals, i hope so anyway!

is this true!!

i was literally about to apply for a job at maidenhead aquatics at my local wyvale and was really looking foward to it.

AnimalAid made a campaign against wyevale having live animals in their stores and wyevale agreed.

To try and campaign against animal aid there is an email address here if you want to complain or protest!

Turns out that it doesn't involve fish!

They may have just stopped selling animals such as rabbits and birds because my local garden center used to be privately owned and sold all sorts of animals. however about a year ago it was taken over by wyvale and they no longer sold animals like that, but Maidenhead aquatics opened up a shop there.

im thinking as fish obviously need a tank and a bit more care then your normal rabbit then they think that is accaptable. and also Maidenhead aquatics have a good standard of fish keeping so maybe they will allow fish.

just my ideas
