This has happened twice now, I've gone to the LFS and the first time they sold me c. julii and turns out neither one was a c. julli, two were bandit cories, and one was a c. tri... (easily confused with c. julii so it's understandable for the one to be labled c. julii but the other two were just completly wrong) so this time I went to get 6 harlequin rasporas, they only had two so I took them, I got home and looked up harlequin rasporas on line only to find out they sold me glo lite rasporas, so now I need 4 more glo lite rasporas I'm just afraid when they get their next shipment in they will get real harlequin rasporas, will the two still school together? or am I going to be stuck with two glo lites and 4 harlequins?

You could always take them back and quote the trade descriptions act. as a consumer you are entitled to recieve what they advertise. Then againn they may counter by saying they were on clear display. but you have a strong case I would think.

Ok so now I've done some more looking (at the fish in my tank) and some more looking (on-line) and well the two "harlequin" rasporas that I have, well I was right one is a glo lite raspora but the other is a Lambchop raspora (no neon orange band over triangle and a red tint to his whole body.... so now there were two different species being sold as the wrong species fish, so now I feel I'll have to take back atleast one of them and get 5 glo lites or 5 lambchops depending on which type they get in in their next shipment, gosh such a hassle, why can't fish shops just have the fish labeled and sorted right in the first place... I just don't get it. well hopefully all of this will be fixed tomorrow, enough of my ranting, just thought I'd share.

One thing that you have to take ito consideration also is that the fish they ordered may have been the one labled. It may have been the wholesaler that sent the wrong fish and the unwarey lfs owner may have know no better, especially if the species substituted looked similar.

Before you take either of them back, try getting a group of either one of them (or even Harlequins) My Rasboras are happy to swim with any "shoalers" I have 8 Rasbora, they do not always school together, sometimes the group split and a few follow the Danios around :)

so you think they'll still shoal even though they're different species? My only thing is I like seeing all the same species/ mirror images of each other swimming around together I just think it looks so nice, now that I can tell a significant difference between my two I'll have to see what they get in at the shop then one will be going back (if they even allow it, haven't checked yet...) if they don't allow it I guess it'll be one big mixed up group.
