My goldfish that i've had for about a month is really cool
When I wake up in the morning, I sit up in bed and the tank is around 1 metre - 1.5 metres away from my bed and as soon as he sees me moving he starts dancing around at the glass..and its not always for food..sometimes he wont be that bothered about food!
And i've recently found out that he likes being hand fed! I'll put half my hand in the tank with a piece of flake food and he'll start nipping at my finger and the food
Also, when I'm moving the plants around or sorting out the filter, he comes and hangs around my hand and rubs himself around my arm!

Yes everyone it is true, goldfish do have personalities and they do recognise their owner.
Its so cool I'm actually becoming quite attached to him now

Anyway guys, thanks for the wealth of information on this site and if you ever end up with a goldfish...dont end up thinking its just another ornament for the house, take the time to look after him properly and they are actually really good pets

And he is very small! Only about 2 inches, 3 at max!
Im really kinda becoming attached to him!

Gorgeous goldie but you won't be able to keep him in that small of a tank for long; being a common he'll need a minimum of 30 gallons, arguably 50 or more and in some cases a pond.

I just love goldfish and yes they are so full of personality, all the best. In New Zealand I had some Goldfish and they use to love to eat mosquito larvae. I used the go the pond and suck some up with a huge eye dropper then my fish would come and eat them from it, they love it. Oh yes THEY do love peas!!

he will need a minimum of 20 gal then 10 for each extra, would definately recommend upgrading him and getting him a friend or 2 as they are very social species as you have found out. he is beautiful, used to hand feed mine too
