I went to my LFS when iwas at the mall today...(prices are quite high there =O, $1.50 for a ghost shrimp, $2.99 for neon tetras) but i just noticed something, the bettas sold there, were in quite big bowls, and in one tank (beside) it they had massive amounts of betta fry !
And the bettas actually looked happy in them!

Isn't it nice to be able to see them swimming around with at least a little bit of room? :)
The place I bought my Betta from had them in tall, maybe 1g "cup"-like things, but large enough that they could actually swim around. I found out that they get their bettas from an employee who breeds them, so I'm sure she keeps an eye on her babies and makes sure they're cared for. I wouldn't buy a betta from anywhere else now.

I'd LOVE to see some Betta fry though!

glad someone is finally looking after bettas in stores :good: my LFS keep theres in larger tanks but in with tetras and other fin nippers

maybe i should go lecture my LFS's about their betta care  . they're in the little cups, but 99% of the time, the cups are clean, so i guess it's better than icky dirty little cups. not as nice as betta fry in tanks though.

yeap ,i m gona go ot walmart later, im unsure wheter they still sell fish or not, but uh lets hope if they do htey do it nicely LOL

the petsmart i go to often has leaky cups! i will find some fish with less than have of their small cup filled!

dead fish galore at walmart, the water was treated, the cups were half full though, and they sold all these tiny bowfront bowls for the bettas =_=, dead koois everywhere too, but hte tropicals seemd to do somewhat well.
