Wow My Cichlid Did The Coolest Thing Read This

ok we all know that cichlids burrow in sand but i got a more smooth pea rock substrate now ive seen him sweep the rock around with his tail but today i hear this tink tink sound and so i went and checked it out here my cichlid was pickin up the rocks with his mouth and swimming to the front of his cave and carefully placing them about even picking some back up only to move it over to the left or right a little ... i tried to get a camera on him in time to video this or even a couple pictures but no success hes quite camera shy and caught onto me quick and stopped and swooped back into his hollow log i donno any one else see or hear of them doing this i thought it was purely amazing .. looked like he was building

Yes they do, I used to have some quite heavy smooth gravel in one end of my old tank, my Brichardi used to pick them up one by one and you could hear the 'clunk' has he spat them onto the glass. Ingenious little things!

Very cool isn't it. Mine move around the sand every once in awhile.
