We have several different variations on this near me. The usual auctions, which are just what they sound like, swap meets, which are tables set up in a rented area, with each seller buying a table for the day. These are usually hosted by clubs.
There is a pet expo every other weekend in the next county, you show up with whatever you are selling, pay for your space, and sell what you have. This event is scheduled a couple of times monthly, and is not affiliated with any club. It is an all species sale, so you will find just about anything for any animal, not just fish.

I get calls once in a while, someone got my number from another club member, and they are looking for angels. Come by and pick out fish, and you get them at the price I sell them to shops, plus a few freebies. I've sent people to local guys that breed corys, plecs, livebearers, you name it. This is probably the cheapest route, as I don't drop my price that low at swaps & such unless you buy 30 or more fish.
