The bottom of the fry tank looks....icky... I am afraid to vacume it for fear of sucking up a baby or harming one, would my corey be ok in it? Would he eat any of the fry? they are currently about 3-4 millimeters long. The corey is (I believe) a peppered corey.

I wouldn't put him in there on his own they like to be in group, no less than 3, or remove the gravel, best to have a bare bottom with fry, makes it easier for you to remove the uneaten food.

Try using a turkey baster, or making a little airline tubing siphon. That's what I do in my fry tanks, and have never had a problem. Also, what you can do, is shine a flashlight near the tank. Most fry either go towards it, or away from it. Then you can siphon where they aren't.
