Would You? - Site Launched!

I think that the addresses and phone numbers of people selling stuff may be open to abuse by them numbskulls (you know who I mean).

You have to be a registered member to view this though - you would have to be very sad to fill out the registration forms just to get someones phone number, and I have no problems with people placing a fake number, and then giving there real one via email to the winning bidder - for collection purposes. :)

I would use it, I live in the uk and where i live its particularly difficult to obtain certain types of fish. I only have one pet store near me, and it isnt very good.
People who can go to a local store and buy whatever they need are lucky, some people cant.

You need to be very careful indeed with this idea. Personal Data (which this is), is subject to the Data Protection Act, and may not be yours to give away.

Exactly, it's actually the same situation with me.. :) Thats one reason why I am setting it up, due to wanting to obtain fish via post and collection, that wouldn't normally be available to me in my LFS.

I have spoken to PhpproBid about this already. :) In with the auction system they sell its fine, no license etc are needed.

Fair play. You may want a consent disclaimer in the T&Cs that people agree to when they sign up. There may already be one in there.

Yes the TOS already states a Disclaimer, and makes it clear the management of the auction site or Phpprobid are responsible for any financial losses, etc. But to be honest, its very unlikely that anything would go wrong anyway. :)

honestly? it just takes 5 minutes to fill out a registration form with a bunch of false info. and there are a lot of people out there on the "idiot"net that are more than sad and desperate enough to fill out a few forms in order to get the personal information of others.

Yes, I suppose your right. But like I said, you can't actually see the details of the seller until you have actual won the auction. It will just say 'Newark, Nottinghamshire' for example, and give no addresses or phone numbers.. :)

I was wondering.... Your site is the "newaquaticauction" so what happens when it gets old or replaced by a newer one? ;)

It was the limited domains that were available at the time I came to purchase it. The domain will remain the same - however, I am in the process of changing the name of the forum and site. :)

Call me meddeling but there are an infinate amount of domains you can buy. Make up a random couple of words off the top of your head and as long as nobody has borught it... It's yours!

It isn't like there is some preset list everyone on the planet has to adhere to :/

Yes, I know that - But I wanted something that actually makes sense with the sites genre, this was an Aquatic Auction site, so the possibilities were limited.

It seems like an intresting Idea. All sucessful sites start somewhere.
Try something more creative...Its an all aquarim site, so you might want to indicate that in the name.
