I have tried to figure out if she is squared off and how much longer she has left until she drops her fry.. but I just cant figure it out!! Can you please help me figure it out? UI would really like to see some fry! (the last girl the other day I think aborted her fry!) :(

This is the best pic I could get of her.

If you make the setup a comfortable place for her to give birth in, it will also give the fry a much higher chance at survival. What do you do to your fish to try and save the fry?

At any rate, she looks like she's due soon.

All I did was move her from the 10 gal. tank with the other fish in it.. to the 5 gal. tank with nothng in it but water. I have been cleaning it pretty well every day (all the poop off the bottom of the tank). Once she isdone having her fry, I will remover her and put her back in the 10 gal. tank. Maybe I should get some plants for teh 5 gal? I live an hour from the city.. so wont be able to get them for a couple days.. not sure if she has that long left though.

She now seems to be sitting at the bottom of the tank quite a bit..and does seem to be breathing fast. But then again.. I dont think I know what normal breathing is for fish.. but Im sure this is faster than normal. I sure am getting anxious for her to have her babies. I keep peaking in at her to see if anything is happening or not. She does move around a little bit, but not a whole lot.

Yes, that's not a nice environment.. Do add some pots and plants (Java moss is good for saving fry). Even if you can't get them in time for this set of fry, still worth getting them for the future.

For the moment, reduce lighting, and stay away from the tank, to give her some peace and quiet.

Going from her comfortable home to a glass house with no privacy, you might have stressed her out a bit too much to be a successful mom this time around.

I ended up sneaking some plants out of the other tank for the 5 gal. I covered the tank with a towel so that it is darker in there.. hopefully she still has her fry. She still has her dark gravid spot... so maybe she is ok.

The gravid spot is visible even when the fish is unlikely to have young.. how is she doing?
