I think it's a good set up and looks a decent size...

Measurements:

36 CM LONG
12 CM WIDE
20 HIGH

I would like to get one, but I don't want all you guys to shun me for getting one :look:

Really?

I want to get some more bettas, but I don't have the room for them so I though it would be a good idea?

I'll probably be disappointed if most of the comments are negative, but I don't want to do the wrong thing by my fish.

BTW that's not my tank lol. It's just the display photo.

Hmm yeah I was going to say its good, but then checked the aquarium calculator. it told me they had 3 litres each! and thats without gravel..

not so good, its less than a gallon. :(

If your sure those measurements are in cm then nooo it`s too small :good: :good: If it was in inches then it would be great set up for a few fishies

Well that's the measurements the guy selling them said they were.

Aww..I was all excited when I saw it, now I'm sad

Well it's not half as bad as those vases some people keep them in! Still, it's not ideal. They would each be in a small boxed area of about 5 inches square. One thing I would worry about is whether the dividers are clear glass or opaque - if they are clear glass then each male Betta will be able to see its neighbour and can cause constant flaring, which I think is unfair on the fish to be under constant stress or feel threatened constantly.

The other thing is, with the sections being so small - how are they heated/filtered etc?

I think this type of Betta tank is only meant for temporary display purposes or quarantine etc if they've been fighting. I wouldn't use it as a permanent tank, if it were me.

Sorry! Don't mean to kill your excitement. Just my opinion on it.

You can buy small, single tanks that hold 3 - 5 gallons, which are ideal for a single male Betta. I recently bought one and it was only £15 (it's a 12 inches glass square cube).

Regards, Athena

Thanks for your replies guys.

I have a betta already and he is in his own tank on our kitchen counter. My mum loves him

I just wanted to buy some more because I think I am addicted now, but I don't have room for little tanks everywhere lol. I have a 3ft tank in my room, but I can't put them in there.

And oh yeah athena...I was wondering about the heater and that too?

I know - they are such amazing fish - so friendly!

What kind of stand is your 3ft tank on? Reason I ask is that I have a 3ft tank on a wrought iron stand and it was only recently that someone pointed out to me that the bottom of the stand had been designed to take another 3ft tank, which I hadn't noticed before. So I've decided to use that space for three 12" cube tanks (have only got one at present). Is yours on that kind of a stand with space underneath for another tank?

It's a shame that we can only put one male Betta in each tank, isn't it? Imagine how wonderful a tank would look, with half a dozen Bettas in different colours. Wooo!

Don't forget the female Bettas - they can be just as beautiful. I have a gorgeous female - she is a deep purple colour and such a character. I think she actually loves me LOL - if I put my hand in the tank for any reason, she quickly swims over and tries to rub herself against my fingers and her little fins start whizzing round at top speed with excitement. Same if I put my finger on the tank glass - she zooms over and sits next to my finger and if I move my finger along, she swims alongside it. She also loves to be hand-fed directly to her mouth - if I put the food in too far away from her, she refuses to swim to it but sits waiting for me to do it properly!! Yep, she's a bit spoilt!

Unlike male Bettas, you can keep a group of females together (more than 2) and they will usually live happily together once they've sorted out pecking order.

Perhaps that's something you could think about - if you have room for one more smallish tank (don't get anything smaller than a 12x12" for a group of 3 - 4 females though - that's just about the right size to add a filter and heater to and gives the fish enough room to set their territories within the tank)...

Best regards - Athena

It's horrifically small and appears to have neither filter or heater. Don't get it.

A 5- 10 gallon tank will fit on a desk easily. Or get a 2 foot long (20 gal approx ) and divide it in half if you want two males.

a 2ft long tank (mine is 15 gal) could be divided for more than 2 males. mine is split 3 ways, but even if divided into 4 it would still allow approx 3.75 gal per fish, which would be great.
and i have found that if you use a small external, or an internal filter with a circular spout, you can fix the input at one end of the tank, and a spray bar positioned against the glass at the other end, and it creates a good flow through between the whole tank. which also circulates the heat from a heater evenly through.

If it was possible to take out the 2 dividers and put one in the centre, so it was in half it would work.

I sent them an email and asked if any of the divider could be taken out and if they were opaque or full glass.

I guess I won't end up getting it. I don't want to upset my fish

Bad idea, period.

The fact that they can see each other is not that big of an issue, except the tank is so small and there are no hiding spots or room for foliage in order for any of the bettas to "rest".

Plus, the space-per-betta is just too small. Certainly not an ideal housing situation.

Last, no heater or filter? Disregarding the heater problem...... WATER CHANGING NIGHTMARE!!!!! You want to change that weekly (maybe more)?

No way. pass on it :)
