My water is very alkaline. PH is so high it's off the chart. I am getting driftwood (it's on order and on it's way) but that will only do so much. Luckily my lfs also has high ph so the fish are already used to it. I really don't want to try altering with chemicals so I'm living with the high ph. Also, we have well water so it's not soft. At least not naturally.Algaes hate water that is acidic, soft and has only little nitrate
As for the mollies, I don't have room (or $$) for a bigger tank and I asked here a week or so ago about their salt requirements and a lot of people said it's not necessary. I do have the 10g but obviously that's smaller and I've already started the school of tetras in it. I had made the decision before stocking it that I would leave the fish that are in the 20 in there and start new with the 10.
thanks everyone!
