i have a 15 gal tank, at the moment only has 1 trio endlers in it after doing a cycle with platys from another tank. i was thinking of getting 2 more trio's and breeding them, and then putting the fry in a 5-10 gal tank would this work?, any advise appriceated.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Since Endlers are pretty small and have a small bio-load, the stocking will be good for them. Just make sure you have a place for all the fry to go, but if they are pure Endlers, most places/people will take them off your hands pretty easily. I'd got for the 10g fry tank too. More room is always better. :)

thanks- i will get the 6 more endlers tomorrow and hopefully get the 10 gal by then end of the week.

You know you'll have to cycle the 10g before you have any fry, right? The fastest way for you to do that, probably, will be to run the 10 gallon's filter in your main tank for a while, so it can pick up some beneficial bacteria. I can't guarantee it will totally cycle the tank, but it will definitely give you a kick start.

What kind of filter are you looking at getting? Sponge filters would probably be your best bet, since Endler fry are very tiny. A small power filter could also work, but you might want to block off the intake area so the fry can't get sucked up. Covering it with pantyhose or a breeder net works, as does cutting some sponge to fit in there. Either one you do, you'll have to be sure to clean it frequently so the filter won't stop running.

yeah i was going to take some sponge out of the filter in my comunity tank, but now i am thinking of running it in there for a while . i was thinking of getting a small power filter and covering the intake with a breeding net or simalar.
