Hey everyone, Im a newbie when it comes to live plants. I know this is a stupid question/query but i was just wondering what you guys thought about it. Would turning the air stone off during the day and on during the night make the living environment for both fish and plants better? Would it help the plants stay alive or wouldnt matter? I bought a bunch of plants about 4 weeks ago and the one that has grown really well is a crypts i believe. The others havnt grown at all. I will give lighting dimensions (WPG) abit later if that would help at all. Thanks in advance

Yes its better to turn the air stone off during the day as it drives off the Co2 that the plants need when the lights are on. So long as you have an adequate filter turning over the water you don’t need an air stone.

Thanks liam. I have another question, abit off topic but oh well. I have a few baby apple snails in my tank that im tryin to grow plants in. Do snails eat the plants? I have 1 or 2 of the smaller snails eating the plants. Also i have another tank which houses my main group of baby snails and they are eating at a plant i put in there the other day. Does anybody have snails in their planted tanks? Or is it unnecessary?

Some snails do eat plants, a few species don't. Some snails eat plants in some tanks but not in others. However, most snails eat most plants in most tanks. Aqua Essentials sell various Nerite snails, and I believe this is what I used to have in my planted tank (although I never got an ID, and they passed away last year.) They didn't eat any of my plants, and being aqua essentials, they wouldn't sell planting-eating-snails.
