Apistogramma cacatuoides

Bulldog/Rubberlip Pleco

These two would be OK in a 29 galllon wouldn't they? Would the cichlid be aggressive, what about if I had a male and female together?

in a 29Gal you could probally fit a BN pleco which grow a tad bigger......the Apisto's would probally leave the pleco alone but if you plan on breeding the Apisto then the pleco might eat the eggs

So would a bristlenose be better to have in there? So would just 1 work in there?

Bulldogs get bigger than BN's. I have a Bulldog Pleco in my 30 and it does great. Make sure you give it plenty of shady areas, slate rock is great and some driftwood. Put whatever you like best. I personally think Bulldogs look better but if you're into the freaky looking bistles than go for it.

Bullddog Plecos prefer fast flowing water and a temperature of about 22C, whereas Apisto. Cacatuoides like still/slow moving water and a temperature of about 26-27C.
You could go for a more fancy Pleco like the Snowball Pleco (L102) which is from a similar area to the Cichlids and only gets to about 6".
