Hi Guys,

I have a 30L shrimp tank but it has no substrate/decor and I would say there is about 10 shrimp in there. In my main tank there is 2 cherry barbs + Tetras and Platties. One of the barbs is really fat (Like a thread someone else posted today) and the other has fin rot. The tank that they are in is a 65L Community tank that has been set up for around 1 year and all the stats are fine.

Here's the thing. I half cycled the sponge filter (I added ammonia until it went to 0 in 24 hours but the nitrite hadn't dropped to 0) and then I had to go away unexpectedly. I then eft it in my main tank for 4 weeks. Is that cycled?

Also there is hardly any surface agitation as it is a sponge filter, and I don't have anther air pump.
What should I do?

Sorry if I dont make sense but it has been a long day

im not sure what it is that you wanted to do with moving things, as you haven't actually said, but i would say after 4 weeks and being that much cycled already yeah, you're probably safe. I'd be very surprised if you weren't.

Hi,

I wanted to put the 2 cherry barbs in the quarantine tank with a sponge filter. Also I dont think there is enough surface agitation?

Thanks for the reply :good:

try lifting the filter so that the outlet stream is as close to the surface of the water as possible and that should put oxygen in. You can get oxygen tablets and you just drop one of those in and it stops that from being a problem, so you may want to look into that.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I will pop to the LFS and get myself an internal filter and put some tihts over it to stop the shrimps being sucked up.

I'll let you know how it goes ;)

I bought a Tetratec IN 300 plus so I have stuck some of my main tanks sponges in it. I will acclimatize the cherry barbs tonight so I hope they survive

Just added them after acclimatising them. They look really pale and have lost their colour a bit. Also they are just sort
Of twitching a bit?
