I am on the look for a 45g or bigger to rehome my pleco that is in my long 20g and once I find a tank I was thinking about getting some angels so my question is would my common pleco suck on the sides of the angels and suck their slime coat off?

A lot of people express concerns over keeping plecs with discus but very few ever say anything about keeping them with angels. To be honest though, I don't think there's any real danger with keeping them with larger flat-bodied fish like angels. I've never seen a plec suck on a discus (or angel) and don't know anyone who has either. I suspect this is just a one-off occurance and would expect that a plec that has a stable diet won't go after angels' slime coats. I have kept smaller plecs such as bristlenoses with angels and never encountered problems. Having said that, perhaps someone will come along who has first-hand experience in this sort of mix going wrong or maybe you simply don't want to risk it. Besides that, the plec will need an even larger tank so I personaly think you should get the right size tank for it so you don't need to keep moving it around.

Well unfortuantly he is a little stunted from being in a 10g for a year when I got him he was like 3" to 4" long but now he is like 5" to 6" long since he is in the long 20g and is still growing thankfully and some people on here said that since he is a little stunted he might not grow any bigger than like 10" to 12". Thanks for telling me about the angel fish because I knew they sucked on the side of goldfish.

I have some foot long plecs with angels. They get along fine, except for sometimes the smaller angels annoy the plecs.
