this is what i have done for the time being and i hope it is ok. because i havent had the time to go around to my lfs or i havent got the money i have got a desk lamp and am shining it over the tank. now i have 11 watts of normal power from the tank light and i have 20 watts from my lamp thingy mabob. will this be ok for the time being.
here is a pic of my tank as you can see in the right corner is my lamp desk thing.

That desk lamp is not going to be the right spectrum for coral growth, and may accelerate algae growth, id watch it carefully if i were you. 36 watts should be fine for a tank that size, for soft corals and some LPS anyway.
