Here is the female picture. Now the male had experience and taking care of the babies. :) He is so tender male. He didn't eat any rotten eggs at all. He will going to take care the babies for 10 days too. :) My giant male plakat is still doing great with his babies. Everyday I just feed him once and that is it. He is so great as a father and I don't have to worried the babies. :)

good for you can you give me some breeding tips all mine do is chase each other they have been doin that for a whole day and the female wont let the male get near her so any pointers would be great

Breeding tips is makesure the female is ready with eggs. It is better to conditioning the female a week before breeding. I like to give them blackworms from California. They just help the female to make the eggs bigger and more. Another thing is makesure the male is bigger.
Then you have to put both side by side in their own containers for that week. Let them get familiar with each other before mating. When the female flares back and have verticle stripes, you are in good shape.
It is wise to let the water in the jar get dirtier (no water change like 2 to 3 days before you put them into the breeding tank). Water in the breeding tank have to be aged clean water with conditioner and with black water or indian almond leaf. Ph is 7 to 7.5. Temperature had to set in 80 to 82 degree F. Water is 5 to 6 inches high. Once they were in the tank, they feels so great and the male will going to blow bubbling the next day. Make sure put a plastic bubble wrap like 2'x 2". The bubbles should face into the water.
Put the male in first around 6.00pm. Then put the female in clean jar into the tank or else using a glass chimney. At 8.00pm, i release the female. Makesure cover the top and maintain the moisture trap. I suggest getting a 5 gallon plastic tank with cover. Don't put them in a traffic way. Make sure there is a dim light sport area. I like it near the window and with a light next by. My wall is darker so they feels romantic. LOL
It will be hard to see how they react for the whole night but it is their game. Playing torture I said and that is their spiritual way of mating. It should be done for 2 to 6 hours and the female keep flooding on the top of the water like hypernating. Then in the next day, the female will mostly want to release her eggs and while the male is building the nest. When everything is ready, usually in the noon time, they will start mating. If not, they will do it the next day.
That is how mine works. :) Never feed when you first put them into the tank. Maintain as clean as possible the tank is. Suck poop f there is.
If you found something in the water is not right like got bacteria invasion or fungus, I always using fungus clear from jungle to clear the fungus and bacteria fast. Don't used too much because you don't want to kill the babies or the eggs. Do accordingly.
OK. That is all in my head. :) Good luck. :)

I just checked the tank and there are many babies! 200 plus plus!!! I guess. So many tiny tails! The father didn't eat the babies or the eggs. He is a good daddy and saw many rotton eggs at the bottom tank. The females release more than 500 eggs. Wou. Since I got one batch already, i think I am selling this top breeding pair in the aquabid soon since they are still young and I got it least than a month old. I have too many pairs to breed by the way LOL. :p

yeeva, if you dont mind me asking can i see your setup, like all your jars and spawning tanks. it sounds like a huge undertaking.

looks like a great pair, hopefully many fry survive.

also, what are you starting the bidding at, i might be interested.

Good luck on the rearing. Looks like a nice looking butterfly.

OK. I finally put up the web in the aquabid. It is my first time. :) I learn something new today.

The price I got both from Thailand after adding up the price cost more than the price I put up. It is worth since this is a pair that will breed so far. Very hard to get a pair that breeds right and this is the opportunity for people who is a breeder and who want to keep breeding for getting top bettas. This male I will let him takecare the babies for 10 days. :) Watch it. I think the female is a rosetail. I have to download some pictures what I took from my tank.
Hi coconutman39. I will find a good picture to show you how I set up.:)

eek thats a little big of a chip out of my pocket, if they dont go yeeva im always interested haha. im looking forward to seeing your setup! can we see the pics of them in the breeding tank?

Hahaha. If you are a blue line betta breeder, you will get a real deal from this proven pair. Both are from top breeders from Thailand. It cost more than that and also this pair did proved breed. :) It is a grap deal if you are a breeder and want to keep going down the line. I bought all the betta from thailand and only 15% know how to breed so far. Since I am planning my mask gold red line, I don't need the blue line now. I know this pair will breed a few more batches if fed right like blackworms to the female. The female release more than 500 eggs. Half didn't fertilized and I still got 200 plus babies now. Since he got experience now, he will make a lots of babies like 300 to 400 next time. I will train the male to take care of their babies for 10 days and so easy to takecare their babies later. He will feels so good and want to breed again.
Did you check on my red halfmoon pair before? I have a lot of pictures how to set up the tank to breed. Let me check. I got so much to do with the babies. LOL:)
