I'm not 100% convinced it's a CAE. The face looks very short and stout and CAE's are usually a bit longer & narrower. Possibly a Garra of some sort ?

Look at this Garra Bicornute for example:

That's a CAE to me. the giveaway is the "checkerboard" esque horizontal band going along the lateral line.

I've had several too. And that in that photo the face is just not that of a CAE - though i agree all else is.
Compare this photo with the one posted by pinkdolphin. (to me) The face looks different.

There are no matching Garra species (with pitures available, anyway) listed on Fishbase, but with the possibility of this individual being wild caught (I'd guess only colour morphs are bred in captivity), it's pretty safe to assume it's either a deformed CAE (which seems quite likely given the outstandingly similar pattern) or a Garra species that you aren't likely to ever identify. Treat it like a CAE, garras require almost identical care.

looks exactly like my CAE, they grow pretty big mate, and get quite aggressive when they get biger, mine do try to attack my rams.

Spitting image of my mums algae eater (didnt know it was a CAE) also it has been goin two years, and aint that big - maybe 3 inches (and its in a 2.5 foot tank)
