They must have been quick! How easy is it to net 2 plecos w/o attracting attention from the staff?

Then again at my local Maidenhead Aquatics easy enough, going by the staff there!

they will defo be able to sell them on. a real enthusiast wouldn't be bothered where 2 x 3" zebras have come from!!! he/she will just snap them up!

It really wouldn't be hard to steal fish from an LFS.. I was at mine earlier and I was hanging around for about 40 minutes while my favourite staff member James went for lunch and it left only one member of staff working, I kept thinking earlier how easy it would be to net fish, bag them up and walk out.

Wow, I guess for a pair of Zebras though you'd bring friends and distract the shopkeepers.
I'd like to see someone try to steal Nessie and Malcolm, lol, they'd get a run for their money trying to get those big old things in a net on the quiet.

i surpose all you would have to do is catch them up and put them in your pocket, then walk out the shop stick them in a bag of water and off you go.

just out of curiosity whats the market value on those? (true zebras) as ive had my eye on one for the future

I was chatting to one of the guys in our LFS which is a (excellent) Maidenhead Aquatics. I live in Maidenhead so quite close to Guildford.

This would not have been easy as apparently the Zebra's were in one of the tanks on the back row - you know how they have 3 rows of tanks? - so they wouldn't have been easy to get to.

Plus, to catch a fish that quickly, you gotta know how to catch a fish! We were trying to net our new pleco out after we'd acclimatised him and poured him and all the water into a bucket and it took a good 15 mins to get him! Perhaps we are just rubbish at catching fishey's but he was a slippery little beggar and about the same size as these zebras.

I just hope whoever it was hasn't killed them by stressing them out or not looking after them properly. I think the sort of person who would do this wouldn't be thinking about the fishes welfare, only the money they could make out of them. They wouldn't give a monkeys about how endangered they are!

wow i think ill have to wait for a bit on that zebra, they cost quite a bit for a 16 year old,nice tho
