Ok so this morning i wake up and turn on all the light s to my tank to find one of my fish stuck to the buttom of my filter tube dead! I took it out and froze it. Then i left for school and came back about 8 hours later to find my filter making this really loud noise so i take the fitler off and take it appart and clean it and put it bak on but it still is making this noise. then i look into my tank and see one of my cory cats swimming along nicely, then it turns and i find it is missing its left eye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The eye was just clean takin out of the socket! Then i put two together and run downstairs, look at my other dead fish to find it is also missong an eye! Also my tank water seemed to be very cloudy today. Now i have 1 fish with only one eye, murkey water, no filter, and a dead fish.

First off here is my stocking list:

-one BGKF
-two Balas(used to be 3)
-2 Corycats
-1 pleco
-1 clown loach
- 1 angle
-all these fish are young and non are over 6 inches.
does anyone have an idea of who the eye eating colprite is??????? and what should i do with the eye eater or if non of my fish are doing it what is???

- second quetion is what should i do with my 1 eyed cory??? i have another 25b gallon with a black more and some zebras and 3 tiger barbs, should i put it in there?

- third Question is what is causing this murkey water(the wtaer has been murkey for about 2 weeks now even after freuqent water chamges!)what should i do about it.

i do have s and not gravel

Help

:(

no on the injured fish it was perfect just missing an eye. A BKGF is a Black Knife Ghost Fish. i dont have water stats, i dont have a testing kit right now

I know that popeye can lead to an eye falling out, did you notice the eye swelling before today? None of your fish are standing out agressive. I would get your water tested ASAP. Fish can survive fine with one eye, so i wouldn't be too worried about it.

As for the murky water, do you mean it looks like milk was poured into your tank?

ok, no i did not really notice any swelling before today but i may have missed it. what is popeye? No the water doesnt really look like milk but more like there is some kind of sediment floating around. i will be going to the lfs tommorow to pick up a backup filter and a backround and now a test kit, anything else i might need while im there to help my fish. is popeye a contagus desese or is just coencidence that two of my fish have lost there eyes clean out there sockets. will all my fish be losing eyes?

The more i am thinking about this, the less it sounds like agression, simply because of no other signs. Here is some info on pop-eye. I am not the author of this information
Exophthalmia (a.k.a. Pop-Eye)

Symptoms:

Fish with exophthalmia will have eyes that are abnormally enlarged and protrude from their sockets. In severe cases the eyes may actually burst from the socket, leaving the fish eyeless. Eye swelling is caused by a build up of fluids in or behind the eye.

Cause:

There can be any number of causes for this condition. Possible causes include poor water quality, bacterial infections, viral infections, eye flukes or other parasitic infestations, or piscine tuberculosis. Even though the fish may recover, the protruding eye may remain that way. This should not adversely affect that fish.

Treatment:

Since there are so many possible causes a broad-spectrum antibiotic is recommended, such as Tetracycline, but this treatment cannot obviously guarantee success. Be sure to keep water quality in good condition.

ok now i looked at my tank after it not having a filter going for anout an hour now and there seems to be some kind of mist or foggy stuff getting concentrated at the top of my tank. liek a cloud. the buttom i sstill a bit cloudy though but mostly it is the top now. Any ideas on what this is, it wouldnt be sand would it? ok and will my fish be ok if leave my tank on without a filtr over night? if i do move my filter from my small yank to this one will there eb a possibilty of that filter getting something caugfh tin it like the other??

ok, NEVER turn off your filter. Your fish rely on that to make their waste nontoxic. Please turn that back on immediately.

Bacterial blooms, what usually look like a cloud, normally don't stay in one area, and are pretty well dispursed throughout the water. It could be the sand. Try doing a water change, but instead of siphoning the bottom, take water from the top of the tank.

Why are you worried about stuff getting caught in the filter? A healthy fish has no problem against hte filter's current, and without a filter, your fish will definately become sick(er).

ok thanks i say that because i think my good big filter is making really loud, vibrsting noises besause there is something caught in the motor like sand

ok, shake out the spoung and bio media in some old tank water. Take apart the filter, the impeller will come off the bottom, and rinse that out well, as well as clean it out with q-tips. That helped make my aqua clear alot more silent.

i have done this, twice, i will go get a new temporary one in the morning and then send in for a new one since it has a lifetime warrenty. thank you for your help. it is getting late so im goign to sleep, bye

How many gallons or litres is the tank as you have alot of fish in there, also post water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
