just wondered if any1 has any idea whats happened in my tank... my fish were all perfectly fine n healthy... got a fresh bit of fish weed yesterday placed it in the tank got up this morning n few fish were acting strange... never touched there food n sum were sittin on the bottom of the tank ... got a call off my dad around diner time saying my fish n shrimps are dieing should i take the weed out... so we have taken it out n the remaining fish have come back to life after taking the weed out n a water change..... any1 no whats happened? its always the same weed i buy :/ will my other fish be alright now?!?! :(

When you say weed, what kind of weed was it? Any pictures?

If you normally put it in your tank, then there is a chance that this piece could have had chemicals or pesticides on it which harmed the fish.

just your normal fish weed, i asked the pet shop what had happened n they were like properly over feed your fish or your water quality is poor... but there was not a think wrong until i put that weed in.... do u reckon my other fish will be fine? is there any thing i can buy to give them a boost?? like yakult to us?

Cant see that link as on phone, but I would immediately do a minimum 50% water change and carry out the same for the next few days. Obviously replacing water removed with fresh dechlorinated water.

What is you tank size and what is your stocking?

Have yoh got a test kit? If so, what are the readings?

the pic didnt work... im new to this dont no how to load 1 ... its a 25 liter biob ... got 11 fish a mixture of danios n white clouds n two shrimp or should i say that's what i had anyway... no i dont have a testing kit... but like i say i had not had a problem until yesterday

Hmm not sure what Danios you have but I will presume zebra as they seem to be the most common and WCMM are both fast shoaling fish, Danios even more so. They both need at least 6 of their own kind and at least a three foot tank to zoom around in. They are both also temperate fish and prefer temperatures in the high teens to low twenties.

To be honest with you, your tank is massively overstocked and although there could well have been a pesticide of some kind on the weed, unless you do large water changes at least twice a week, the levels of waste in the tank will harm the fish. There is just not enough room or water in a 25l Biorb for those kind of fish to grow and prosper.

You would be better possibly rehoming them and getting a betta and maybe some shrimp in that tank.

I would buy a test kit asap though, preferably a liquid one and test the water.

Oh and how long have you had the tank setup for?

its been set up 5 or 6 years i had goldfish in but they got to big so swopped them for danios

i was told 1 fish per 2 ltrs of water, they told me i could have upto 20 in the tank... it looks empty anyway... but i got 12 about 2years ago 1 died n i never replaced it i thought its enough in there for them to grow and swim about

i had 2 orange 2 pearl 2 long fin zebra n 2 long fin spotted 1s n 3 white clouds and 2 shrimps

now i have 1 orange n 2 pearl and my 3 white clouds n 1 shrimp but he looks on his way out

im taking water into the petshop tomorrow they test it 4 20p
