Hi there it definately looks like he has dropsy. I am so sorry to say that. My betta at the moment is also suffering from dropsy. I have had him on tetra cycline for the last couple of days and he has not improved. There is nothing much I can recommend as every site I have been onto states it is fatal. It has been a terrible ordeal to watch and must be painful for him. i am planning to stop treating my betta 2moro, clean his bowl one last time and to let him pass comfortably and at peace.

Sorry to hear about your beta, but I'm not ready to give up on Oscar. I still have hope he will pull through since he seems to be in good spirits. This is only the third day of his treatment.

If it helps, I kept a neon with dropsy alive for a week with Maracyn+Maracyn2. He was not swolen anymore and got some colors back but he still had popeye when he died. A neon is very little. The betta should be much stronger. Keep trying. He was not eating at all.

Well.. I still can't tell if he is any less bloated, but he fianlly pooped!
My boyfriend noticed that his gills arn't sticking out nearly as much as they were, so that had got to be good!

Hey all,
I hope you arn't sick of me posting about Oscar.
Oscar is still bloated, the stuff I have been using doesn't seem to be doing anything.
I'm using a tablet called Maracyn-Two, the brand is Mardel. It says it's for Dropsy, Septicemia, Popeye and fin/tail rot.
I may be going to the city tomorrow, just wondering if anyone knows of another treatment I could try. There are three different pet stores I can check out. ( I hope no betas catch my eye )
I have been doing epson salts aswell. His gills arn't sticking out, but he is still very bloated.
Any segestions would be great!
