In my tank Ive got,

2 x 3 spot gouramis
3 x Tin Foil Barbs
5 x Red Eyed Tetra
1 x Bala Shark

and now Rip, my red Betta.

I was pretty confident that they were eating fine, everything in there is very timid, nothing messes with each-other, everything was peaceful. I had a male Betta in there for about a month. He was doing great, then I couldn't find him yesterday, didn't think much of it, but today I found him, er well whats left of him. Just a head and a tiny part of his body, no fins and all stomach area eaten and one of the Gouramis going to town on it. I know its late, but Im worried, am I not feeding them enough? Was it a fluke?

Thanks guys!

Gourami and Betta are not the best fish to house together as they are both labyrinth species and are very similar species. I would not be surprised if your male Gourami killed him. Failing that, the Bala.

Agree with fishprotector - your compatabilty could be the problem. Always a good idea to read up before you buy fish.

Dead fish will always be consumed even if they are well fed so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Feed once a day and as a rule feed them only as much as they can consume within a couple of minutes. This will give you an idea of how much - a fish's stomach is roughly the size of their eye so they dont need much! You will know if you are feeding too much if you have loads of uneaten food when you do your gravel vac and if your nitrate reading is high.
