Hi
im new to the Forum

We Have Quite A New Tank (About 4 Weeks Old) and up until last week had two male Platys in the tank together that were very pally together, then one of them an Red Wag Tail became a bit ill :(

We asked advice at our local Aquarium and they very kindly offered to put him in quaranteen in their tank and treat the little fella

We were Planning on getting another Platy anyhow so we got a blue one the day the Wag Tail went into quaranteen and added the new one to the tank ;)

The first Day he seemed to be a bit boisterous but then calmed down to become a really Placid peacful fish :)

Today We Got our Old Wagtail Back and hes the Picture of Health Now ;)
Weve added him back to the tank but Now the Blue Platy is acting rather odd hes Become a bit Boisterous Again but hes doing a strange wiggle along the whole length of his body a bit like how an eel moves

Weve become a bit Worried About Him,my patner who has had fish Before Guesses he might be a tad Jealous Like hes had his nose pushed out?

Is there something Wrong With him? Has anybody seen anything like this before and should we Be Worried?

its normal for livebeares to be full on when new fish come to the tank.
How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

The tank is an Aqua One 620t (130 Litres)

2 Wagtails Platys, 1 Blue Platy,2 Golden Sucking Loaches,2 Albino Minnows,3 White Cloud Minnows,2 Black Swordtails
(All Boys ;) )

Water Stats

Ph 7.5

Nitrate 40 PPM

Nitrite 1 PPM

Our Test strips dont test for ammonia so not sure on those?

We are doing a Partial Water Change Tommorow or Friday :)

Looks like the tanks still cycling.
That why a platy got ill.
Daily water changes and increase aeration as fish find it hard to breath in cycling tanks.
Bad water quality causes stress which weakens there immune system and thins there slime coat.

just a quick note aswell i would definately always have good aeration in the 620t as being a deep tank it needs it
i used to have an airstone but now have the fluval 3 + with the adapter that creates bubbles
also running fluval 205 through the drip filter
