Hi one of my female guppies has been pregnant for weeks,i bought three from my lfs and within in a week i noticed two were pregnant, one had hers over a week ago and gave me 6 fry and she is twice the size so waiting for her next batch, the one which i am concerned about is not as big as my other, she is only young herself, and is half the size of the one that dropped a week ago. i know she you can see the dark patch and she is very squared off, but no signs of anything, i have noticed how swollen her backend is and it is very red and inflamed, she will not eat, this has been going off for the past 4 days now. i have tried encouraging her with more water changes, but nothings happening, dont want to loose her, whats wrong?? my one which gave birth over a week ago is huge and she does not seem herself swimmimg on the bottom not eating, her chest is huge and i know she has got a few weeks to go yet.

thanks
naomi

raise the temp by 2 degrees, turn of the lights, and leave her alone, is my suggestion.

i have already turned the temp up, and i have left her alone for the past four days, just turning the light on when my fish need feeding

its definately not right, has never happened to any of my gupps before

the past couple of female guppies have been like this for me either before or after birth. all my other fish are fine. cant understand it wilder has told me to worm my tank.

i have kept and bred guppies for many years, watched many births and never have i experienced redness of any sort.

wilder is very good with disease and stuff on here so i'd take her advice, she has helped me save many fish in the past :good:

The fish is also producing clear mucas poo which can be a sign of internal parasites.
I would still worm the tank as its best to worm fish anyway.
Something not right and it could all be down to internal parasites.
Internal parasites can by passed onto fry inside the mother.
Good luck bless her.
