Worms?!

I put my 20-50 gallon Ammonia Remover insert into my AquaClear Power Filter after rinsing. After doing so, the water clouded with chalky residue and I saw small, moving worms in the water. What is this? Did the filter insert cause this? I had never seen this before... and I'm very worried... could these worms be hazardous to my fish? I saw one of my guppies eat one. Please help me. Thank you!

very proberbly planeria.
totaly harmless and often (but not always) caused by overfeeding.

the cure is not to feed your fish for 3-4days and they will eat the planeria.
