Hope someone can help with this please.

I have a well planted 155l tank, been running for 8 months now. Its a planted tank, mainly stocked with barbs and a few tetras. Recently, just before christmas, I noticed a small free swimming white worm. At the time I was treating for what looked like an outbreak of White Spot.

There are now an increasing number of these worms, from .5cm to 2 cm in length.

Can anyone suggest what they are and a possible treatment?

I change 20% water every 2 weeks ph is around 6.4 and my ammonia and nitrate/nitrite levels are low. There has been nothing new introduced to the tank since October.

I think - and this is just think they are called planeria - someone please correct this if Im wrong, but Im close!
And they are from over feeding. Cut back on your feeding and they should disappear!

thanks all, :good:

will cut back on the feeding and see what happens.

will keep you informed.

It is most likely to be Planarian worms, these are the most common of worms
that are found in Aquariums. They can grow to about 30-60mm and have arrow shaped
heads. They are perfectly harmless.

If not it may be some type of leech or exotic species but this is unlikely. However I
wouldn't worry literally all are harmless.

Yeah, Planarian. Almost!

Thanks
