My cycle has finally finished, while doing a 90% water change though for the fish tommorow, i noticed i have 2mm long wormy things that appear to be moving over the glass, it obviously hasnt come from the water supply otherwise id be ill, ive put bogwood in, and plants, can plants carry things?

What im mainly worried about is are these going to be parasitic to the fish (and me?) and is there anything i can do to kill em?

I mean i could water change and clean gravel etc, but worms are renowned for being pesky, and not dying, to kill every egg or new worm would require steaming the entire tank.

Gah just as my cycle has finished as well.

they sound like Planaria and aren't a real problem. Do a gravel clean and big water change and they should go back into the gravel.

Heh I'm actually hoping that planaria would show up in my new tank later on (in small quantities, mind, as a "planaria bloom" is never a good sign in an established tank). After having had a marine tank I've come to the conclusion that basically any non-parasitic critter in the tank is a good thing. They all help with waste processing, and they provide snacks for the fish.
