Tank lights have been off for about 20 minutes and i have just counted 19 bristle worms on the sand bed alone. Urgh. Are there any fish that eat them and that are suitable in a 160ltr tank??

nooo leave them i know there grose but there a valuable member of the clean up ccrew if your creapt out just wear latex powder free rubber gloves (which i do)

if not arrow crabs can eat smaller ones and look like spiders

Agreed. Bristleworms are like a free cleanup crew and a rarely a problem. Last night I witnessed one stretch from its hiding place in the live rock, to grab a food pellet. about 3 inches away. Just be sure to wear your marigolds when handling the rocks though.

Those arrows are one crab I would never have in my tank.... because they look like a spider :shout:

I'd have to stand on a chair and scream until Seffie came and got it out

Oh yuck, the crab is worse than the bristle worms

Bae, do you really wear gloves to put your hands in the tank

i don't but i might start now that i have some bristlies. heard they pack a punch.

YF, if you reduce feedings they'll die off. Dunno if it's possible, but i'd say they are a valuable CUC addition.

only when handling lr (howver if i cant find the gloves then i risk it mainly as my anemone and the bristle worms

(also used to wear full length real thick ruber gloves (like the ones they use on cows lol) when i had my lions)

oh and i like arrow crabs although they can get to 6 inches across

those crabs  and can cause rock slides!!

I never wear gloves, have had a few rashes, but always have anti histamin handy

eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww! 6 inches!!

I'd need a bloody big newspaper to squish that with. It'd probably grab it as I swung and then beat the granny out of me.

I always wear gloves when handling the rocks. Gives you better grib and minimizes the risk of getting tagged by something in there, like bristleworms or a zoa that you didn't know was there.

nooooo were just sensible :p

Big jessies I say, which is funny coming from somebody who once dropped a crab on the floor because it touched her hand when moving rock across from trods nano to her five footer

yeah now the truths out lol

i wear gloves as i once picked a 6 inch bristle worm out of the sand thinking it was a loose zip tye it was awful but i ran it under hot water and it didnt affect me so i wear gloves now

I always wore gloves in my SW tank, firstly i was allergic to the stinging cells of aiptasia, and secondly, i dont fancy an isopod sticking its jaws into me

just googled them and yuck
