Worm? Leech?

We are in the process of moving our betta to a new tank. Was hopeful for today as the parameters indicate it is properly cycled; however, we found this guy...

Any idea what it is? The tank is planted with fluval stratum and sand. I assume it came on one of the plants ? should we be concerned even though we removed it? Will it harm our betta?

Whoa! That's a leech alright. Not sure whether it can harm the betta. Still, it's good that you removed it, fingers crossed it was the only one and there are no eggs attached to any of the other plants/decor... Maybe give them a rinse/scrub before you put them back in the tank, to be on the safe side?
